Hello all!

So to keep the sadness from missing SDCC at bay, I decided to catch up on all the comics I've been reading. I used to be way more into comics when I was younger, but I sort of stopped because I am the worst at keeping up with them. It would always be the same thing-- I would start out great, always going to pick up the newest issue, but then without fail, I'd miss an issue which then turned into 3 issues which then turned into the whole series.

I'm trying to be better though, and I even bought the Marvel app so I didn't have an excuse to miss anything. Lemme tell you, this app is the best. Now whenever a new issue comes out, instead of driving the whole 7 minutes into town to pick it up at the comic book store (although, they've recently just moved two blocks away from me--which does not bode well for my bank account), I can just open up the app and buy it right there. It's way more convenient when you're prone to bouts of laziness like I am.

Basically, the only ones I've really been keeping up with are all the new Star Wars runs that have recently come out. Also, the new Thor because I needed to know who the female Thor was (and I totally called it. I won't say who it is though, just in case any of you wanted to read it yourselves. Which you should, cause it's pretty awesome.)

Anyways, on to the comics!

Lando #1: This one just started this week and I already love it. The story takes place before Lando runs Cloud City or even joins the Rebellion, and centers around him just making his way through the galaxy on his charm and swindles. To get out of a debt, he agrees to stealing a pretty valuable ship which he doesn't really know much about, and you just know that he and his faithful friend Lobot have totally bitten off more than they can chew which is gonna make for a great storyline.

Darth Vader #7: This run focuses on Vader in between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and how he evolves in that timeframe. Aside from it being a good story line, having it be from his point of view shows you another side of the Empire's war with the Rebellion which is kinda cool. Also, there's murderous droids in there too, think C-3PO going all The Shining, which it's pretty cool.

Princess Leia #5: I have to admit, out of all the Star Wars runs out there, this is the one that hasn't been impressing me. I don't know if it's because I had such high expectations for it since Leia is one of my favorite characters ever, but it's just meh. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike it, but it's just not grabbing me as much as I wanted it to. The story line is cool, you're basically following Leia around as she tries to bring together the last of the Alderaanians and piece her world back together while trying to stay off the Empire's radar, but again meh. I think what also throws me off is that in the Star Wars comics where it's all three of them together, Leia looks a bit like Carrie Fisher, but in this one she doesn't. Obviously, I'm still going to read it cause it's Leia, but c'mon! Make it a bit more exciting!

Star Wars #6: This series is my favorite. I was so excited when Marvel said they would be printing these again and so far, I've not been disappointed. I had read quite a few of the ones that Dark Horse had printed which were great, and I think I sort of expected these to be in the same vein, but they are far from the ones I read years ago, and I love it. Again, these ones are set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and touch on Han and Leia's blossoming relationship and Luke coming into his own with the Force. They really capture the essence of those three and it feels like they just plucked them from the screen and put them right into print. Also, they just introduced Boba Fett (and Han Solo's wife?!) and I cannot wait to see how everything unfolds.

If any of you are reading these, or have anything else you're loving, lemme know!
